The travelling team departed Brisbane airport at 11pm on Tuesday evening and embarked on an eight hour flight to Hong Kong.
For many of the younger Lions players, it was their first ever overseas experience.
While many of the players and staff tried to get some sleep on the flight, those hoping to keep themselves occupied were left disappointed courtesy of the faulty in-flight entertainment system.
A two-hour stopover in Hong Kong was followed by another two hour flight before the tour officially commenced.
The first day was purposely planned without any scheduled activities as the players came to terms with their vibrant new surroundings.
Some tried their luck bargaining with street vendors while others remained diligent with their preparation for Sunday's Shanghai Showdown.
