Lisle lighting it up
Former Hawthorn player Jordan Lisle is making the most of his opportunity to play senior football since moving to the Brisbane Lions
AFTER a late season flurry in the Brisbane Lions' seniors, Jordan Lisle has no regrets about leaving Hawthorn.
The 22-year-old key position player was traded to the Lions at the end of last season after playing just five games in three years at the Hawks behind established forwards Lance Franklin and Jarryd Roughead.
It was not an easy transition north for Lisle, playing almost the entire season in the Lions' reserves before debuting for the club against Richmond in round 19.
When he runs out against the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba on Sunday, it will mark five straight games.
Playing as a forward sidekick to Jonathan Brown and acting as a backup ruckman to Ben Hudson, Lisle has shown glimpses of his potential in the past month, including a 10-mark effort against Carlton in round 20.
With the Hawks chasing a premiership and both Franklin and Roughead injured throughout the season, Lisle might have got a chance had he stayed there, but said there were no regrets changing clubs.
"I really enjoy it up here in Brisbane, it's a great lifestyle," Lisle said.
"I definitely don't miss Melbourne, especially the weather.
"Breaking into the side, this will be five games in a row and I'd only played five games all up at Hawthorn, so there's definitely something to build on and if I can have another good pre-season, hopefully I can get a few more games next year."
Lisle admitted to poor early season form costing him an earlier opportunity, with the likes of Aaron Cornelius and Patrick Karnezis getting multiple chances up forward ahead of him.
"I've had to work my way in and it's good to finally be there now," he said.
"I'm really enjoying playing and for myself personally I wish the season could go a bit longer so I could keep playing some senior footy, but it's been really enjoyable."
Brown said he had been impressed by Lisle's form upon getting his chance.
"He's been exciting, Jordie. He's played the last few games, is a big target down there and takes a strong mark," Brown said.
"He's just going to get better the more games he plays. I think he's got a really exciting future at the Lions."
