The third and final Lion Loyalist Luncheon will be held at 12 noon at Etihad Stadium’s Endeavour Room on Friday 19 August - the day before the Lions’ Round 22 match against Collingwood at the MCG.

The event will be themed around some of the most successful ‘Royboys’ from the 80s and early 90s - Gary Pert, Richard Osborne and Scott Clatyon.

Pert was recruited to Fitzroy in 1982 from the Club's zoning area of Bulleen and became widely recognised as one of the best full-backs in the game.

He played a total of 163 matches with Fitzroy and won the Club’s Best & Fairest award in 1989.

Such was his impact, that he would often be moved up forward in case of emergency and managed to boot 42 career goals - an impressive feat for a permanent defender.

He represented Victoria five times, was named in the All Australian team in 1985 and earned a place in Fitzroy’s Team of the Century.

Fitzroy were forced to trade Pert to Collingwood at the end of 1991 where he added a further 70 matches.

He now assumes the position as Chief Executive Officer at AFL giant Collingwood who have reached record revenue and membership levels in 2011.

Like Pert, Osborne was recruited from Bulleen-Templestowe and went on to play 187 games in more than a decade with Fitzroy. He also kicked 411 goals which remains the 9th most in Club history.

He led the Lions’ goal-kicking in every season from 1986-89, Captained the Club for one season in 1991, represented Victoria on seven occasions and, like Pert, was named in Fitzroy’s Team of the Century.

Osborne eventually parted ways with Fitzroy at the end of 1992 and went on to play with Sydney (16 games in 1993), Footscray (51 games from 1994-96) and finally Collingwood (29 games from 1997-98).

Earlier this year Osborne returned to the field in a Lions guernsey during the NAB Cup as part of an AFL Legends match.

Clayton played alongside Pert and Osborne during a relative successful era for Fitzroy from 1981-1990.

Hailing from Hobart, he was a relative pioneer of the tagger role and was often asked to perform jobs on key players from the opposition.

Clayton played a total of 160 matches and won the Club's Best & Fairest award in 1990 - which proved his final season in the VFL.

He has since made a name for himself as one of the most respected recruiters in the AFL having held roles with the Brisbane Lions and the Western Bulldogs before heading up the Gold Coast's recruiting department.

The Lion Loyalist Luncheon promises to be a wonderful step back in time as both 'Royboys' share stories from their playing days and provide an insightful preview into the next day’s game between the Lions and Collingwood.

So don’t miss your chance to hear from Gary Pert, Scott Clayton and Richard Osborne at this special Lion Loyalist Luncheon event on Friday 19 August.
