If only I’d chosen Lance Franklin as my skipper!
A lazy 13 goals and 20+ disposals from ‘Buddy’ saw him notch up 204 points - the highest score in Dream Team history. Had I given him the Captain’s guernsey instead of Collingwood’s Scott Pendlebury, I would have exceeded 2,100 points.
Again, hindsight is a wonderful thing.
Funnily enough, I actually thought I had kept Jack Redden as my skipper. After Saturday’s games, I even jokingly told him that he needed to go out and boot 14 goals against the Eagles, or risk being traded out of my team the following week.
As it turned out, Reddo topped 120 points again (he scored a team-high 127), which was enough to dislodge Rocky as the Lions’ top Dream Team scorer so far this year.
Imagine my surprise this morning when I checked to see that I had actually picked Pendlebury as my Captain at the last minute. Even though he dominated in the opening stages against the Suns, he ended up hurting his knee and got subbed out at half-time with only 59 points.
It was disappointing to say the least - particularly as I had blokes like Franklin, Redden, Jack Riewoldt, Brendon Goddard and Travis Cloke all have big games.
It means I’ve made little progress on the Lions’ Dream Team League, pushing back out to 319th.

For me, I’ll likely leave my team untouched. I find that when I spent too much time on it, I go poorly. If I leave it alone, things seem to work out for themselves.
