Young utility Ryan Lester has today signalled his commitment to the Brisbane Lions by signing a contract extension that will see him at the Club until at least the end of 2014.

Lester, taken at Pick No.28 at the 2010 AFL National Draft, has taken on a variety of roles in 19 of 22 senior matches this season, and has impressed the Lions coaching staff with his versatility, work ethic and quiet achievement.

He is the latest in a line of young Lions to recently re-sign with the Club, including fellow 2010 draftees Claye Beams and Josh Green, who both committed to new two-year deals last month.

Lester said that it was an easy decision to re-sign.

“I’ve got some great mates up here and Brisbane’s home now. It’s a good young group here at the Lions and we’re all keen to work hard and achieve success together,” Lester said.

“I’m really glad that I got the chance to play so much senior footy this year, and I’m now just really focused on having a good pre-season and improving my game in 2013.”

General Manager, Football Operations, Dean Warren, said that Lester’s new deal was great news for the future of the Club.

“It really reinforces just how dedicated and committed our young group are to sticking together and achieving that on-field success in the future,” Warren said.

“Ryan is young, but he’s one of those players who goes about his role with no fuss - he just puts his head down and gets the job done, and we’re thrilled that he’s re-signed.”
