Brisbane Lions Legend Kevin Murray believes there are around 10 players who can stake legitimate claim to the title of 2012 Club Champion.

The Merrett-Murray Medal - named, in part, after the former nine-time Fitzroy Best & Fairest winner - will be awarded this Friday night at the annual Club Champion dinner in Brisbane.

Murray, who will be on hand to help present the medal to the eventual winner, told lions.com.au that he couldn’t possibly predict who might receive the honour.

“I wouldn’t have any idea,” Murray said.

“There are probably 10 (players) who wouldn’t surprise me if they won it.”

“Simon Black has had another really good year. Then there are boys like Jack Redden and Tom Rockliff who have had consistent years.”

But it seems as though Murray might have a new favourite in first-year sensation Dayne Zorko.

“Zorko is a remarkable footballer,” Murray said.

“Before he came to the Club he was a brickie’s labourer - which means he is a tough little fella. I just love the way he goes about it.”
