He’s already been nominated for Goal of the Year (Round 9), but now Daniel Merrett has put himself into contention for the AFL Mark of the Year.

Merrett's sensational contested mark came during the second quarter of last Saturday night’s match against St Kilda at the Gabba, when he rose above Saints ruckman to pluck the ball.

The mark was even more impressive considering the former full-back was also receiving some close attention from Sam Fisher.

Merrett is one of three nominees vying for this week's Mark of the Year honour - along with Richard Douglas (Adelaide) and Matthew Boyd (Western Bulldogs) - with an online vote to determine the eventual winner.

Lions fans can CLICK HERE to watch the mark and cast their votes now for big 'Rog'.

Fans who vote will also go into the running for the major prize draw.

Voting is open now and will close NEXT Monday 23 July at 12pm.

At the conclusion of the Toyota AFL Premiership Season, the All-Australian Selection Committee shall select the three best goals and marks from the 23 weekly selections from the AFL panel, along with any public selections that differ. The selection will be based on a 5-4-3-2-1 vote given by each member of the selection committee.

The top three selections for the Lifebroker Mark of the Year and Origin Goal of the Year will be placed on www.afl.com.au by 7pm on 10 September 2012.
