BRSIBANE Lions vice-captain Jed Adcock says the Sydney Swans have added another lethal string to their bow under coach John Longmire.

Always feted for their work around stoppages and the contested ball under premiership coach Paul Roos, the Swans are now even more dangerous with their spread from the contest according to Adcock.

Longmire is in his second year of coaching and has led the Swans to a 10-3 record and second place on the ladder.

Adcock said travelling to Sydney - as the Lions do on Saturday - was every bit as hard as playing West Coast in Perth.

He said the smaller SCG was ideal for the Swans and their running game.

"They're probably a bit quicker now, they've got some good outside run and can take the ball from one end of the ground to the other very quick," Adcock said.

"Lewis Jetta getting on the outside, [Ben] McGlynn, [Ryan] O'Keefe, [Jarrad] McVeigh, so they're really rebounding hard off half-back … [Rhyce] Shaw and [Marty] Mattiner, [Nick] Malceski, and then getting into the forward line really quick.

"We've got to be careful that we all don't get sucked in and then get beaten on the outside."

The Lions (6-7) have beaten the Swans just twice in the past eight years - both in 2009 - and need victory to keep their finals hopes alive.

One of their own strengths over the past month, where they have won three times, has been the running of the backline and wingers.

Adcock, Josh Drummond, Mitch Golby, Ryan Harwood and Pearce Hanley have all been prolific.

Adcock said run from the back half was even more important in Sydney as it ensured the ball could be pumped deep into the forward line.

"I think what we've done over the last month is build some good belief in the team and the systems that we've put in place," Adcock said.

"You can see the confidence with the ball movement and with each other that things are going along the right path.

"We know it's going to be another step up but we played West Coast a month ago and were able to put those systems in place and come away with a win, nothing changes going into Sydney."
