Lions Assistant Coach Adrian Fletcher says the team has regrouped following last weekend’s loss to Carlton - and did not hold back on the specifics when discussing the goals for this weekend’s clash against Adelaide at the Gabba.

Fletcher, speaking exclusively to Lions TV, said that the team had been given measurable targets to meet against the Crows - starting with inside 50 entries.

In their last three matches, the Lions have been outclassed in inside 50s - 58-42 against Carlton, 63-39 against Richmond, and 68-35 against West Coast.

“We must get fifty inside 50s, and we must restrict them to fifty inside 50s,” Fletcher said on the Vero Coaches Wrap.

“If the ledger’s like that, we believe we can kick a winning score and restrict their forwards.”

“If we can go into the game and do what we did against Carlton in the first half… and maintain it for the four quarters, we’ll give ourselves a chance.”

And while Adelaide, currently second on the ladder, has a firing forward line, it’s their dangerous midfield that Fletcher is more worried about.

“Adelaide’s got an abundance of elite running midfielders, and probably the guy that really puts the cream on the cake is (Patrick) Dangerfield with his explosions from the congestion,” Fletcher said.

“He can run and carry, he kicks goals from the midfield - so he’s probably one guy we’ll have to target on the weekend to make sure his offensive weapons don’t come into play.”
