Victorians remember 2001 premiership
Victorian-based Brisbane Lions fans had the opportunity to relive the glory of the 2001 Grand Final victory over Essendon.
Luncheon guests were joined by five players from that 2001 premiership triumph - Jonathan Brown, Beau McDonald, Martin Pike, Craig McRae and Marcus Ashcroft - who recounted their stories and memories from the occasion.
The afternoon kicked off with a viewing of a stirring 2001 video highlights package which was created as part of the official 2001 Premiership Anniversary event held in Brisbane back in March.
Brown, McDonald, Pike, McRae and Ashcroft gave entertaining insights into some of the happenings behind-the-scenes and spoke of their pride in being part of Club history.
The final guest speaker for the day was 19 year-old Matthew Stin who actually ran out with the team for the 2001 Grand Final 10 years earlier as the Club’s official junior mascot.
