BRISBANE Lions coach Michael Voss has urged the AFL to act over the second beer throwing incident in as many seasons at the Gabba.

Brendan Fevola had a beer thrown over him by a Melbourne-based Bulldogs fan, who subsequently spent the weekend in a Brisbane watchhouse.

Voss said the incident crossed the line of acceptable behaviour and should not be tolerated.

“Spectators can’t touch players, players can’t touch spectators,” Voss said.

“I don’t think you can put up with that sort of behaviour, I think the AFL makes a pretty strong stance about that.

"If the AFL hasn’t got involved they should because you can’t have that and it should be eliminated.”

Bulldogs skipper Brad Johnson had beer thrown over him in the corresponding game at the Gabba in round 20 last season.

Voss said the AFL needed to protect the safe environment that makes AFL games suitable for families.

“We don’t want people like that,” Voss said.

“It’s a good family environment that we have at the AFL, it’s one of the attractions that we have to our game, the fact that people can go there and they can enjoy football without seeing idiots carrying on.”

Voss scoffed at suggestions Fevola incited the latest beer throwing incident by taunting Bulldogs fans after Jonathan Brown booted a goal.
