The constant whispers surrounding some possible late changes in the outcome of tonight’s 2012 NAB AFL National Draft has caused afl.com.au’s Callum Twomey to revisit the official Phantom Draft he posted on Tuesday morning.

As a result, Twomey’s prediction for who the Brisbane Lions might select with Pick No.8 has altered.

He now believes the Lions are likely to recruit Bendigo Pioneers midfielder Oliver Wines - not Jackson Macrae as previously stated.

The change has come about from some apparent late mail that suggests the Western Bulldogs - who hold Picks 5 and 6 - are interested in Macrae and Jake Stringer.

Meanwhile, The Age’s Emma Quayle has listed South Australian Sam Mayes as the player she believes will land at the Lions with Pick No.8.

The fact is there are at least half-a-dozen players who have been linked to the Lions in recent weeks - with the Club’s fate set to be determined by the players who are selected with the first seven picks at the Draft.

WA & SA Recruiting Manager Graeme Hadley told lions.com.au that the Club itself still isn’t certain which player is headed for Brisbane.

“Right now, we don’t know who the Lions are taking at Pick No.8,” Hadley said.

“But we’ve certainly prepared in a way that we’ll take a particular person if he’s available.”

“Everyone frames their own drafts, and that’s terrific. But in the end, it doesn’t matter what anyone says, it will never determine who gets drafted.”
