The Brisbane Lions today completed a trade deal with the Western Bulldogs which saw the Club receive the Bulldogs' end of first round Compensation Draft Selection in exchange for wingman Justin Sherman.

The Compensation Draft Selection was originally awarded to the Bulldogs from the AFL following Jarrod Harbrow's signing with the Gold Coast.

The Lions can choose to activate this selection at the end of the first round in any of the 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 or 2014 AFL National Drafts.

The Lions now potentially hold six selections within the first round and early second round of next month's AFL National Draft - including two Compensation Draft Selections.

23 year-old Justin Sherman will join the Bulldogs after playing 114 games in six seasons with the Lions.

Sherman is a former Lions Club Champion Runner-Up, AFL Rising Star nominee, Club Rookie of the Year winner and International Rules representative.

The goal-kicking wingman has made a valuable contribution to the Lions since being drafted from Clarence in Tasmania in 2004 and the Club thanks him for his service.

"Justin expressed a strong desire to move to a Melbourne-based club despite remaining under contract with the Lions," Lions National Talent Manager Rob Kerr said.

"While his pace and ability to kick goals will be a regrettable loss, his departure aligned with several of our key strategic objectives."

"One of those key objectives is to improve our position in the upcoming compromised National Drafts," he said.
