All Australian forward Charlie Cameron has committed his future to the Brisbane Lions by signing a long-term deal.
Cameron has quickly become a cult figure among Lions fans who will be thrilled to know they will now be enjoying his iconic motorbike goal celebration until at least the end of the 2025 season.
“I’m really excited to have committed my future to the Lions,’’ he said.
“I love the club and have a great bunch of teammates.
“I also think we have the best fans in the competition and I enjoy celebrating our successes with them.’’
CEO Greg Swann said Cameron’s commitment to the Lions was a major boost to not just the football side but to the entire organisation and the Club’s loyal fan base.
“The fans love Charlie and he genuinely appreciates that and wants to engage with them,’’ he said.
“We pride ourselves on being a fan first club and Charlie really embodies that.’’
Lions GM of Football David Noble said Cameron’s signature was a key plank in the Club’s plans for the future.
“The extension of Charlie is pivotal to our long-term planning of sustained success,” he said.
“He continues to improve and grow his game, advancing his skills and craft as one of the best small forwards in the game.”
Noble thanked Cameron’s management group Corporate Sports Australia for their support in securing the new deal.
He said the 26-year-old was growing as a leader of the team and from the moment he arrived at the club for the 2018 season had been a superb ambassador for the Club.
“As a teammate, he adds his knowledge to the group and continues to build his leadership as part of our next leaders program,’’ he said.
“As well as being extremely exciting for the club, to let our fans continue to share in his talent at the Gabba is also great.
“We love hearing and seeing our fans engage with Charlie at the Gabba – it really moves our players.’’
Cameron, an All Australian in 2019, has played forty games for the Lions and was the club’s leading goalkicker in 2019.
