Question: Hey Ash, in Footy Fix they said Stakes was out getting a facial. Are any of the other guys partial to a beauty fix?

Yeah, Ryan Harwood gets his eyebrows waxed, and James Hawksley, disturbingly, trims his nose hair. It’s a bit weird.

Question: Not really a question but just wanted to say g'day we are over in Afghanistan at the moment and we get to watch the odd game every now and then it is a good sanity break to see a bit of home on the TV. All the best for the season and hopefully I will get back to watch a game at the Gabba soon.

Thanks Craig and thanks for the great work that you blokes do over there in Afghanistan. We just recently celebrated ANZAC Round in the pouring rain against Geelong and met the guys from the Australian Army 7th Brigade. They gave us a gift which now hangs proudly in our football rooms. It’d be great to see you back in Australia and at the footy soon.

Question: If you were a bird, what would you be?

Great question Andrew. I’d be a peacock I think. Because of all their feathers.

Question: Hi Ash, Just watched the 2003 final again - great times! You look like you haven't lost too much speed over the years - who is the fastest Lion over 20m and 50m?

I don’t know about that Joey. I’ve lost a bit of speed with a few hamstring injuries over the years, but the main thing is that I can still beat Blacky over both 20m and 50m.

Question: Hey Ash. Great to see you and the players never give up regardless of the score! I have always wanted to be a player, but if that isn't possible, I'd love to be a strength and conditioning coach. Just wondering what is it like for that job and how do I get there. Thanks! Good luck for the rest of the season and tell Blacky we all appreciate what he has done for the club and the game!

Hi Campbell - you’d need a sports science degree for that most likely. That’s what most of our strength and conditioning coaches have here. Look up what different unis and training schools have. While you’re studying, it’s always good to volunteer or do an internship somewhere as a bit of a foot in the door. We have a couple of guys on our staff here who started out as interns. That’d be my advice! Good luck with it.

Question: What are your favourite kids’ names? Do you have a son? If not, will you get one of your girls into AFL??

I’ve got a son due in 9 weeks actually, but I better keep the name close to my chest. My mum is hassling me to tell her. Watch this space on that one. I don’t think little Mikayla will get into AFL. She’s going to be my moneymaker playing either golf or tennis. I’ll go on the world tour with her while her mum stays at home and does the dishes.

Question: Hey Ash, Is there anyone at the club considered a pest in your eye or the oppositions eyes? Every club has to have one. Good luck for the rest of the year!

That would be Jack Redden. He’s a little pest. As you saw the other week, he threw a bloke’s boot away. If he had have thrown my boot away, there’d be trouble. He also keeps pinching my towel and hanging it back up in my locker when I’m in the shower. He is very annoying.

Question: You guys have to keep a pretty strict diet, eh? So when the season finishes, what's the first 'bad' food you get stuck into?

Yes we do have a strict diet during the year. I’m always getting told off for coming back a bit fat. The first bad food I get stuck into is Chicken Treat, which is like a better version of Red Rooster back home in WA.
