As we celebrate living in the best country in the world on January 26, lions.com.au asked some of our Lions what Australia Day meant to them.

Andrew Raines: Hot, sunny weather and barbecues. And a bit of backyard cricket.

Elliot Yeo: Hanging out with friends and family.

Simon Black: relaxing and having barbecues with family and friends wearing ridiculous Australian hats and flags. But the reality is I haven’t had an Australia Day like that in a while because we don’t get the days off in footy!

Jack Crisp: Relaxing by the pool having a barbecue.

Stephen Wrigley: Australia Day is a day for lamb.

Ash McGrath: Training on a public holiday. And Triple J Hottest 100.

Justin Clarke: A day off (not any more!).

Richard Newell: Hot days and a barbie.

Patrick Wearden: Triple J’s hottest 100.

Daniel Rich: Beach and barbie, until I joined an AFL Club that is.

James Polkinghorne: Triple J’s hottest 100.

Daniel Merrett: We don’t get public holidays, so it’s just another training day!

Bryce Retzlaff: Beers and surfing.

Patrick Karnezis: Hot weather.
