Voss on playing at the Gabba
”Being an interstate team, we have to make it really difficult for opposition sides at the Gabba. The crowd numbers are certainly starting to build and the noise is getting louder. We have to bring more of that.”
“It’s a big game for us. It’s a great opposition and we’re certainly going to be tested. For us, hopefully we can continue on that momentum.”
“The players can derive a fair bit of confidence from playing at home. They have that belief in themselves that if any team comes to the Gabba, then we are a very good chance of winning that game.”
Voss on facing the Western Bulldogs
“I thought Hawthorn’s intensity was exceptional (yesterday), but they just weren’t able to sustain it. That’s what the Bulldogs demand from you - they play a really disciplined style of footy. They force you to think and to play the full 120 minutes right up until the end.”
“We’ve certainly spent a lot of time training for that over the off-season and we’re ready for the contest. It will be a big one for us.”
“They’ve got a couple of injury concerns and we’ve got a few things we have to worry about. But we’re ready.”
“Last year we didn’t really beat a top four side. We beat Geelong, but it’s fair to say we didn’t get a lot of credibility out of that game based on the fact they had so many players out.”
“This is a really good opportunity for us. Both teams are in pretty good form which means it should be a pretty good contest at the Gabba.”
“The Bulldogs use their angles well in the way they move the ball which opens up that centre corridor a fair bit. They always keep you on your toes because they don’t necessarily go down a straight line all the time.”
“They are a good opposition. For us to be able to get where we want to go, we have to be able to beat these teams. It’s a harsh reality and we can’t hide from that fact.”
“They have a reasonable record against us, they’ve won four of the past five here at the Gabba. It’s going to take every single contest for us to get away with a win.”
Voss on Simon Black’s calf injury
“He pulled up a bit tight after Wednesday’s training session and only just got to the line on Saturday.”
“He is getting some scans, but they’re not showing anything other than he has got some fluid in there at the moment.”
“At this stage I would probably suggest he is a 50/50 chance to play this week. It’s still a bit touch-and-go until we know if it settles down.”
