The Brisbane Lions have named an unchanged side to face North Melbourne for the first time, in their first ever AFLW regular season match to be held at the Gabba tomorrow.
The Lions head into the Round 8 clash having ambushed former ladder-leaders Collingwood in a FIFO nail biter at Whitten Oval on Sunday.
The side overcame significant adversity with the match being relocated from their home ground at Hickey Park, to the Melbourne ground less than 24 hours prior to bounce, to topple undefeated Collingwood.
Senior Coach Craig Starcevich praised the sides resilience in the face of adversity.
"That 24-hour period was a bit hectic. The players and coaches were immediately into “let's do this. It's a bit of a setback, but let's go and prove everyone wrong"
“It was a great motivating force in the end. I don't think historically, I can't remember, certainly not in AFLW, a team travelling three weeks in a row and getting three wins."
The Lions came away with a three-point win and second place (percentage) on the ladder.
They now take on the 5th place North Melbourne for the first time since the Kangaroo’s inception to the competition, with a win cementing their spot in the top half of the ladder.
