When the pressure's on, Brisbane has to be less selfish, says Vice-Captain Dayne Zorko.

The Lions are winless after eight rounds, but in six of those matches have been within seven points during the final quarter, including Saturday night's loss to the Western Bulldogs.

Zorko said although players were not taking selfish options deliberately, the Lions had to learn.

"In pressure situations, we're not doing it on purpose, but we're going outside the team a little bit and trying to do it all ourselves a bit too much," he said.

"One of our trademarks is to be selfless.

"Everyone wants to win. I don't think anybody is doing it on purpose.

"There just seems to be a better option we could have used, and when we play really selfless team football we're able to score really quickly."

After a slow start to his season, Zorko has bounced back to the form that earned him All Australian selection last year in the past fortnight.

Against Collingwood, he had 34 disposals and four goals, and against the Bulldogs it was 24 and four goals.

Ahead of hosting Hawthorn at the Gabba on Sunday afternoon,  a team Zorko has never beaten in six attempts, the 29-year-old said the Lions were learning from their tight losses.

He said Luke Hodge playing his former club hadn't been mentioned yet, but was sure it would be.

"It'll certainly get a run at some stage," Zorko said

"Luke's wise enough and experienced enough, he has been through a lot of situations in football, I don't think he's going to get overawed by the occasion by any means.

"I'm sure there'll be instances in the game that are a bit fiery, but I'm sure he'll be composed enough to deal with it."
