While its party time for the Lions AFLW side and their fans right now following Saturday’s epic premiership triumph…the future looks pretty bright too.
Young guns such as Nat Grider, Courtney Hodder and Dakota Davidson are set to light up the AFLW for years to come.
Coach Craig Starcevich took one of the competition’s youngest sides on the march to the Grand Final triumph over the Crows and its no surprise the Club has three representatives in the AFL Players Associations AFLW 22 under 22 side.
The AFL Players Association used match statistics from Champion Data to pick a 40 strong squad and then it was over the fans to come up with the final twenty-two.
Grider was tied with Richmond ace Monique Conti as the most popular young player in the league securing a whopping 92 per cent of votes.
The Lions dominated the all-star team joining Collingwood and the Western Bulldogs with three selections each.
Premiership team-mates Hodder and Davidson joined Grider in the final twenty-two.
Grider and Hodder both earned Rising Star nominations during the Lions march to the AFLW finals.
Hodder is also in contention for the AFLW goal of the year while Davidson finished the season with an equal competition high 16 goals.
