Brisbane Lions defender and NAB AFLW Grand Final Best on Ground, Kate Lutkins, has been recognised in the 2021 Virgin Australia AFL Women’s All-Australian Team on Tuesday evening at the W Awards.
Lutkins produced another extremely consistent and dominant year, earning her 3rd honour as an All-Australian player.
Her selection was made that much more impressive after it was discovered, post the Lions’ 2021 NAB AFLW Grand Final win, that she had played the last four games with a torn plantar fascia in her left foot and some damage in her right.
Brisbane Lions Head of Women’s Football Bree Brock said the selection was so well deserved.
“Again, it’s her just cementing herself as a premier defender in the competition,” Brock said.
“She consistently shows real commitment to improving her craft and is an absolute warrior playing through injury and intense pain for the back half of the year.
“It’s great recognition for not only a super player but a super human.”
