The explosive full forward has enjoyed a career-best year in 2021.

Following an ACL injury to teammate Eric Hipwood, Daniher has stepped up and become the key target inside 50.

Now averaging 14 disposals a game, Daniher sits in the ‘elite’ category according to Champion Data and has played 21 straight games for the Lions, more than his previous three seasons combined.

More pleasing for Lions fans, however, has been Joe’s ability to hit the scoreboard. Statistically, the key forward is in career-best goal kicking form, averaging 2 goals a game at 50.6% accuracy.

And while 50.6% accuracy may not look impressive, in the last two weeks, Daniher has kicked 7.3 and looks more dangerous than ever leading into September.

It sets up for a fascinating finals series, with Matthew Lloyd suggesting Daniher will lift even further.

"It makes you realise how lucky the Lions were to get him to the club considering the season ending injury to Hipwood," Lloyd said.

"He's so dynamic in the air and he's kicked 41 goals and 309 disposals.

"I think the bigger the game, the more Joe rises. He's been waiting for this, and they might play the Bombers in the first week of finals which would be fascinating.

"He's looking really strong and really powerful."

This Saturday will also mark a potentially historic milestone in the most Joe Daniher of fashions.

If Joe kicks a goal against the West Coast Eagles, he'll be the first player since 2017 to kick a goal in every game in the regular home and away season.

The last player to do so... Joe Daniher.
