Having been named one of the players to watch leading into the 2022 season, Nat Grider proved her weight in gold on Sunday.
The 21-year-old was a shining light in a tough day for the Lions, collecting 16 disposals and taking eight intercepts in a near best-on-ground performance.
Impressively, Grider ran at 75% disposal efficiency for the game, showcasing her penetrative left foot and silky skills.
The fourth-year player was rewarded with a spot in Round 1’s Team of the Week and will become more important than ever as the Lions defence now look to cover the loss of superstar veteran, Kate Lutkins.
The 33-year-old suffered a cruel ACL injury five minutes into the first quarter and has been ruled out for the season.
Brisbane will now head to their new home ground at Maroochydore Multi Sports Complex for Round 2, where they’ll take on Carlton.
