‘Women of the Pride’ gathered yesterday for the Club’s inaugural Luncheon at the Brisbane Convention Centre.
More than 240 guests joined host, Liz Cantor and panellists, Christie Leppitsch, Nicole Duncan (Football Admin Manager), Emma Zielke (Admin Support Officer), Wendy Andrews (mother of Harris) and speaker, Cathie Reid (Managing Partner of Epic Pharmacy Group).
The women provided insights into the football industry from a female perspective and Ms. Reid spoke about the importance of building relationships amongst the group – women make up more than 40% of the AFL’s viewing coverage.
“I’m proud to wear my ‘Women of the Pride’ scarf and want to congratulate the Lions on this fantastic initiative”, she said.
Players Jack Redden, Jono Freeman, Michael Close, Jaden McGrath and Cian Hanley sat amongst the guests.
The Lions’ initiative is gathering momentum, with more 500 memberships sold since its launch in March.
A host Queensland women have thrown their support behind the project, which aims to get women actively engaged and involved with the Club through a range of events and activities.
