Nakia Cockatoo will bring an added boost of experience and maturity to the VFL side when they face Port Melbourne at Burpengary this Sunday.
Coming off from senior AFL duties, the explosive midfielder will be looking to showcase his mercurial goal kicking and bash-and-crash style as he attempts to find form to return to Senior Coach Chris Fagan’s Best 22.
Reliable midfielders Ely Smith and Rhys Mathieson will hold their position in the VFL side as they continue to push for senior selection.
While young gun Darcy Wilmot has also been named in the side after several strong performances in recent weeks.
Off the back of their bye weekend, the Lions will be searching for a crucial four points at Moreton Bay Sports Complex.
With two close losses and a thumping victory under their belt, a solid performance this weekend will go some way to help keep their VFL season on track.
Sunday’s match will be the first time the Lions have met Port Melbourne in the VFL, with the visitors coming off their first win of the 2022 season over Essendon last Sunday.
