The AFL Trade Period is done and dusted for another year.
As was desired by Senior Coach Chris Fagan and General Manager of Football David Noble, the Brisbane Lions added mature-aged talent that will be able to support the crop of emerging players who are still developing.

OUT: Dayne Beams, Sam Mayes, picks 5, 24, 43, 62, 80, 2019 first-round pick
What happened
A lot.
Trade period started with a bang as the Lions acquired talented forward Lincoln McCarthy on the first morning of action. The Lions received McCarthy and picks 54 and 57 from Geelong in exchange for picks 42 and 60.
McCarthy was in Brisbane last week and spoke in detail about his decision to join the Lions on the Roar Deal.
The Lions' second move was a picks
The following week was full of rumours but nothing happened until yesterday morning when it all kicked off.
Sam Mayes and Pick No. 5 were sent to Port Adelaide in exchange Pick No. 6, 35 and a future third-round selection (Fremantle's on traded to Port Adelaide).
The trade allowed Mayes to return home to South Australia to be closer to his family.
Then, in another trade with Gold Coast, the Lions gave up their 2019 first round pick in exchange for Pick No. 19 at this year's draft plus a future second-round and third-round pick.
The trade with Gold Coast was crucial in securing midfield star Lachie Neale, with the Lions receiving him and Pick No. 30 in exchange for Pick No. 6, 19 and 55.
Neale joins the Lions on a five-year contract.
With the trade deadline nearing, defender Marcus Adams was finally traded north from the Western Bulldogs, with the Lions giving up Pick No. 35 and a future third-round selection.
Lastly, Dayne Beams was traded to Collingwood. The Lions sent Beams, Pick No. 41 and 44 to the Pies, and received Pick No. 18, Pick No. 56 and a future round-one selection.
What's next
The AFL Draft is next up in just over a month's time. However, trades involving draft picks can continue right up until the draft, so our draft order could still change.
Currently, it stands as follows:
18 (via Beams trade), 30 (via Neale trade), 35 (via Mayes trade), 56 (via Beams trade), 78 (via Gold Coast pick swap).
Thursday, 22 November: AFL Draft (Round 1).
Friday, 23 November: AFL Draft (Round 2 onwards to conclusion).
Friday, 23 November: AFL Pre-Season Draft and AFL Rookie Draft.
Pre-season training for the Lions begins in early November.
