Scores were level with six minutes left before a Nathan Krakouer goal edged the SUNS ahead. Daniel Rich, Simon Black and Ash McGrath had huge games for the Lions, but they weren't enough to stop the SUNS claiming the first Queensland derby.

Former Lion Pearce Hanley claimed his first Marcus Ashcroft Medal after collecting a ridiculous 45 disposals, nine clearances, two goals and three goal assists.
