The Brisbane Lions Reserves recovered from a sluggish start to overrun Mt Gravatt by 43 points at Dittmer Park today.
It was the Lions' second win over the Vultures this month, though the margin was nowhere near the 173 point thrashing they dished out in round 14.
The victory ensures Brisbane remain on top of the NEAFL ladder with just 3 rounds remaining.
Jordan Lisle continued his stellar season with a game-high 13 marks and 5 goals, while red-headed tyro Josh Green bagged 4 goals.
But it was utility Patrick Karnezis who was arguably best on ground.
191cm Karnezis amassed a season-high 44 disposals the last time the sides clashed, and he again led all comers on Saturday with 28.
The 20-year-old also chimed in with 3 goals and 4 tackles in a classy all-round display.
A swirling westerly wind made for a decidedly scrappy spectacle, the Lions lacking their usual kicking polish.
The first quarter in particular was ugly to watch.
Missed opportunities in open play and in front of goal saw Brisbane 2 points in arrears at the first break.
Coach Nathan Clarke implored his troops to afford the Vultures more respect, and the responded with a 7 goal second quarter.
A 5 goal burst in the closing ten minutes of the half was particularly telling, as the Lions came back from 12 points down to lead by 17 at the main break.
The Scoring onslaught was started by Aaron Cornelius, before two goals in succession to Patrick Karnezis and majors from Josh Green and Jordan Lisle.
Mt Gravatt kicked the first six-pointer of the second half, but the Lions dominated the quarter from there on.
Richard Newell won plenty of the footy and kicked a goal as Claye Beams and Patrick Karnezis got on top in the midfield.
Jordan Lisle snagged two maximums for the quarter, including the goal of the day.
Lisle bent back his set shot with the wind from a tight angle after plucking a mark courtesy of a brilliant Cheynee Stiller pass.
The three quarter time margin was stretched to 34 points, and with both sides tiring a comeback seemed unlikely.
So it proved, as Brisbane kicked four goals to three to seal the result.
The Lions next tackle Redlands at Coorparoo next Sunday August 5.
