The Brisbane Lions will head south to chilly Canberra to take on GWS in Round 18.

The Giants have had a solid month of form, while Brisbane will welcome back seven changes to their side that lost to Essendon last week.

Last time we met

Brisbane 110 def. GWS 96

The Lions trailed by as much as 30 points in the first quarter before turning it on to finish 14 point victors at the Gabba in Round 11. Brownlow medallist Lachie Neale continued his stellar season, finishing with 39 disposals, nine clearances and two goals in another best-on-ground performance. Neale had plenty of help from Jarrod Berry, whose career-high 33 disposals, that included a goal from 50m, helped turn the tide when his team needed it.

Key Match-Ups

Brandon Starcevich vs Toby Greene

Toby Greene nearly won the game for the Giants last time they faced the Lions, kicking four goals from 15 disposals. The fiery forward sits in the elite category for kicks, marks and goals and will be a handful for Brisbane defenders. His opposition in Brandon Starcevich is flying under the radar with his impressive form. The 22-year-old stood up in an undermanned backline last week, collecting a career-high 26 disposals and 601 metres gained. This year, Starcevich is averaging 15.5 disposals and has only lost 16% of his defensive one-on-ones.

Hugh McCluggage vs Josh Kelly

Two wingers with the ability to go into the engine room. Hugh McCluggage is averaging 24.5 disposals a game and is categorised as 'elite' in both tackling and marking with one of the best penetrating kicks inside 50. Kelly plays a similar role for GWS, a damaging left footer averaging 27.9 disposals, 4.2 clearances and 5.4 tackles.

It's a big week for...

Brisbane. Off the back of one of the strangest weeks in recent Club memory, the Lions have named SEVEN changes to their starting side. The inclusions of Keidean Coleman, Harris Andrews, Noah Answerth and Darcy Gardiner will strengthen a previously undermanned backline but the Lions will need to bounce back with ferocity following their shock loss to the Essendon. Expect the Lions to come out firing early.
