Sophie Conway is hoping the Brisbane Lions can continue their string of good form to get the job done against North Melbourne on Saturday.

As the Lions prepare for the clash, Conway said that the team was looking forward to facing the in-form Roos at Arden St this weekend.

“We’re really excited for it,” the midfielder said.

“Coming off Essendon who was a quality opposition on the weekend, and they’ve come off Sydney as well, so I think it’s going to be a red-hot contest.

“It was a great game when we played them last season so there’s no doubt it’s going to be a hot challenge but we’re up for it.”

The Lions will head into Saturday’s match off the back of a 44-point win over Essendon at home, with Conway taking plenty of confidence from the side’s performance.

“The week before last we came off a loss against Richmond which as a collective, we were probably a bit disappointed about and we probably let something slip away from us.

“We went back to the drawing board and just tried to get back to the basics of what makes us a good side and the reality is that’s contested footy, pressure around the ball and trying to the ball in quick to our forwards and give them the best opportunity to score.

“We also started the game really well which was a bit of a focus for us as well. The last few weeks we probably haven’t started the best, so just to bring that Lions brand of footy from the first quarter through to the last quarter was something we were pretty pleased with on Sunday.

Saturday’s challenge against top-four contender North Melbourne is the first of several headed the Lions’ way in the next few weeks, with meetings against defending Premier Adelaide (Round 8) and an in-form Collingwood (Round 10) fixtured across the back-end of the Lions’ home and away season.

“We’ve got a big month ahead of us,” Conway said.

“We’re really looking to the challenge that it brings.

“Obviously the first step is this weekend and going down to Melbourne and trying to get the job done.”

The Brisbane Lions will play North Melbourne on Saturday September 8 at 5:10PM AEDT (4:10PM AEST) at Arden St, VIC.
