The Brisbane Lions are one of four teams currently in the race towards the 2013 NAB Cup.

The Lions’ come-from-behind three-point win over GWS in Wagga kept the Club’s pre-season winning streak alive, and sets up a huge clash against Collingwood in Melbourne this Saturday night.

The unbeaten Lions and Magpies sit second and third respectively on the pre-season ladder, with the winner likely to book themselves a spot in the NAB Cup decider.

That is, unless fourth-placed North Melbourne are able to make up the significant percentage gap with a big win over Geelong at Simonds Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

But Geelong themselves (currently fifth) aren’t without their chances of qualifying either.

The Cats’ big win over Adelaide leaves them with a small flicker of hope, but they would need defeat the Kangaroos quite comfortably AND hope that Carlton loses by a significant margin.

The Blues, meanwhile, replaced the Lions at the top of the ladder following a percentage-boosting 70-point win over Fremantle, and are in the box seat to face the winner of Saturday night’s showdown.

However, Carlton are faced with the tough task of playing Adelaide over at AAMI Stadium this Friday night.

While there are a number of ways that the final round of the NAB Cup could play out, the Lions need only concentrate on beating Collingwood to all but secure their chance at winning the Club’s first pre-season premiership as a merged entity.

The Club encourages all Victorian-based Lions fans to head to Etihad Stadium this Saturday night to cheer the team on in what is essentially a pre-season ‘Preliminary Final’.

Fans will also be invited to stay back after the game to take a tour of the Historical Society Museum and hear from some of the Lions coaches and other special guests.
