Last week could've been our best four quarter performance of the year, so we're hoping the same goes this weekend against the Weagles!
We're excited, you're excited, let's get stuck into it shall we?
Last time we met
'Twas a pretty enjoyable evening last time we met the Eagles at the Gabba!
75-point victors on Mothers Day weekend, here's what the AFL said about the win:
"The Brisbane Lions did as was expected and took care of the spirited Eagles to retain their spot in the top two with a fourth straight victory.
Brisbane generated plenty of chances inside 50, but it took until the second half to really open up a gap, kicking seven goals to one in the last quarter.
Hugh McCluggage was magnificent, kicking a career-best four goals from his 26 disposals, making the difficult look easy with his sublime right-foot kicking.
Charlie Cameron had a fair night himself with four goals, while Lachie Neale (30), Dayne Zorko (26) and Daniel Rich (28) were also big contributors."
Be excited about
Four Big Ins
671 games of experience return for us on Saturday arvo with Jack Gunston, Dayne Zorko, Jarryd Lyons and James all picked in Fages' 22.
After a casual 41 disposal, eight mark outing in the VFL last week, 'JL' (Lyons) has earned a well deserved call-up while Madden has also consistently impressed over the last month.
Lions fans, you know how quick Jimmy Madden is and you know full well how clean Zorks and JL are with footy in hand.
Two words: get keen.
Match-ups we're keen for...
Lachie Neale vs Tim Kelly
Two of the best mids in the comp will go head-to-head on Saturday.
Lach is in fantastic form, averaging 27.3 disposals, 6.2 clearances and 3.8 tackles per game. His opponent in Kelly is in similar form, averaging 24 disposals, 5.1 clearances and 4 tackles per game.
Our Co-Captain is the #1 centre clearance player in the competition, while Kelly is ranked #13, which for those non-stats oriented footy heads means that the battle around stoppage is going to be intense and heavily dictate the outcome of the game... but we're backing Lachie (obviously).
