Steve Conole, Recruiting Manager, says:
“He’s a beauty Zac. He’s an NT boy who has spent the last couple of years at boarding school in Adelaide at PAC College. He’s had a huge year, he’s had to balance his school footy, his SANFL footy with Norwood, he’s played for NT and he’s played for the Allies. He’s got genuine pace. His ability to get in and out of traffic is elite. I’m sure he’ll become a solid midfielder in AFL.”
Zac Bailey has been selected by the Brisbane Lions with Pick No. 15 at the 2017 NAB AFL Draft.
The selection caps off an incredible year for the 18-year-old, after being unknown to national recruiters twelve months ago.
It was Bailey’s turn for the Allies at the NAB AFL U18 Championships, where he took All Australian honours, that got them talking.
At 181cm, he has a strong right boot, wins contested ball and recorded a sub-three second 20-metre sprint time at the AFL Combine.
Originally from the Northern Territory, Bailey moved to boarding school in South Australia at Prince Alfred College, to pursue his football dreams.
