BRISBANE LIONS Elite Performance Manager Brett Burton says the Bupa Support Team will monitor an injury to midfielder Jack Redden.

Redden was a late withdrawal from Sunday’s game against Essendon, replaced by Mitch Golby.

“He’s just got a minor back issue, it’s really just a week to week proposition at the moment. We’re hoping he won’t be out for too long, it will probably be the one to two week mark.”

Forward, Daniel McStay, has returned to Brisbane after surgery on a badly dislocated finger.

“It’s really unfortunate for Dan, obviously right at the end of the game.

“He dislocated his finger quite badly, he stayed in Melbourne overnight after the game and went into surgery. They just had to clean out the joint and stich him up again, he’ll be pretty sore so he may be unavailable (for selection) but we’ll know more later in the week.”

Round 9 Weekly Update

Burton told the Bupa Report that surgery to talls Trent West and Luke McGuane went well.

“Both had minor knee surgery last week and both those operations were successful so we’d expect them back after the bye.”

While, 18-year old Jaden McGrath has returned to the Gabba following surgery and has begun his rehab program. McGrath was diagnosed with a stress reaction in the navicular bone in his foot in April, and was ruled out for 8-12 weeks.

He played in the opening three rounds of AFL as well as three NAB Challenge matches before pulling up sore following the round three loss to Richmond.

“It’s good for Sparra, we sent him home for a couple of weeks. It’s obviously a long term injury so he’s back with us now and getting into his rehab program. We’ll slowly wean him off the crutches and out of the moon boot in the next few weeks.”
