Brisbane Lions AFLW premiership-winning midfield coach Daniel Webster has informed the Club he has accepted the role as AFLW head coach at the Hawthorn Football Club.
Webster started his tenure with the Lions in 2022, taking charge of the midfield group and helping the Club claim the ultimate prize in 2023.
Previously, Webster played key roles in a number QAFL senior men’s premierships at the Aspley Football Club where he was head coach, along with a season in the VFL in 2021.
Lions AFLW Senior Coach, Craig Starcevich said he was sad to see Webster leave the Den, particularly after a successful 2023 campaign.
“It is a testament to the coaching group as whole to have Daniel appointed as an AFLW head coach,” Brock said.
“Daniel will be the thirdLions person to become a head coach in the AFLW, joining Lauren Arnell (Port Adelaide) and former assistant coach, David Lake who was at the helm of the Gold Coast SUNS from 2019 to 2021.
“While it’s inevitable clubs will seek staff who’ve had success, we wish Webby all the best and thank him for his dedication to our program during his time here.”
