WEST Coast has snapped a two-game losing streak with a 12-point win over the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba.

It was far from a dominant display in a dour match, but the Eagles led from start to finish in the 11.10 (76) to 9.10 (64) win.

A late charge from the Lions added some spark as they drew within five points, but a Mark Hutchings goal inside the final two minutes snuffed out any hope of a win for the Lions.

For the Lions, Stefan Martin continued to justify his place as No.1 ruckman, while teammates Dayne Zorko and James Aish were all solid.

West Coast's win sees it sitting in 11th place, still a mathematical chance for an unlikely finals berth. Gold Coast is in eight place, two wins ahead of the Eagles.

The Lions are anchored in 17th with four wins.
