The Brisbane Lions have named the team they believe will see them win their Opening Round clash against Carlton on Friday night.

Not only would victory in the Preliminary Final re-match see the Lions kick start their 2024 campaign in style, it would keep their unbeaten run at The Gabba intact.

Brisbane’s chances of doing that were boosted with senior coach Chris Fagan having an almost full squad to choose from.

Key defender Jack Payne and exciting playmaker Kai Lohmann are the only two changes from the Lions side that played off in last year’s Grand Final.

The sold-out Gabba clash will also be an extra special night for veteran midfielder Jarryd Lyons who is selected for his 100th game for the Club.

Lyons, who won last year’s VFL Best and Fairest, has been included following a strong pre-season with consistent performances in all practice matches.

He has been named on Brisbane’s bench alongside Lohmann, Callum Ah Chee, Lincoln McCarthy and Darcy Wilmot.

The Lions have also listed James Tunstill, Darcy Fort, Noah Answerth as its three emergencies.

The first bounce is scheduled for 6:40pm AEST.
