The Lions NEAFL side put out a blistering performance against the SUNS, dominating until the final siren snagging a 97-point win.
The convincing win was no surprise to Coach Mitch Hahn, saying development players Keidean Coleman, Cody Stackelberg and Ethan Hunt have stood up in recent weeks.
“Really strong performance from the boys, they are playing some really good football at the moment and we are really pleased on how they are going.” Hahn said.
Despite missing the majority of the pre-season, Hahn believes Coleman is one to watch after being recognised with the NEAFL’s Rising Star award for Round 3.
“Keidean has been fantastic for us,” Hahn said.
“He has really excelled in our program so far and he has been able to play a variety of positions.
“He is working really hard on his game, his development and growth this year has been exceptional, we are hoping he can continue down that path.”
Irish speedster Jimmy Madden has continued to show his ability to run and carry from defence, learning from the most knowledgeable the Lions have to offer.
“He’s linking in with Luke Hodge and these guys that are helping him with his game,” Hahn said.
“At the moment we are giving him a few key focuses and he is attacking them really well.”
Ben Keays was another standout for the Lions, finishing with 26 disposals and four goals as well as five tackles and eight marks to compliment his impact on the scoreboard.
After working hard on his running patterns and ability in the contest, Corey Lyons had another strong game in the midfield.
“This year has been really strong in the midfield, Hahn said.”
“We’ve got a lot of contributors that are putting pressure on the senior team, which is fantastic, that’s our job and Corey is one of those guys.”
Set to bring a strong team up from Sydney, the Swans will be a tough opponent this week.
“They are a fantastic football club, we have a lot of respect for the way they go about it,” Hahn said.
“With whatever team they have, they will be competitive and strong so we will really have to be on our game.”
