Brisbane Lions Chairman Angus Johnson last night unveiled to members the Club’s strategic vision towards 2016.

Johnson told members at the Club’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) that the document was arguably the most important in the Club’s history.

He said the strategic vision provided the Lions with a clear direction on the path to restoring its standing as an AFL powerhouse.

The release of the Club’s strategic vision followed a thorough and robust process of consultation with key stakeholders, including members, corporate partners, players and staff, and centres on three core values - Relentless, United and Respectful.

These three values form the cornerstone of the strategic vision and will be implemented in the Club’s planning and operations towards to 2016.

Johnson said that the Club had identified the need to create a sustainable, long-term plan to ensure the Lions' future success.

“I believe in future years we will look back on 2011 as an important stepping stone, and as a defining year for our club,” Johnson told Club members.

“We made a firm commitment at the end of 2010 to completely overhaul our culture and our values."

“We will not compromise on our values or on the effort required to be the best."

“Successful organisations are built on the foundations of strong values and good people - individuals who recognise that they are part of a team and put the organisation before their own self-interests."

“Today at the Brisbane Lions, the quality of people we have is outstanding and everyone is very clear on what needs to be done to make us an AFL powerhouse.”
