The Brisbane Lions' strong performance against Greater Western Syden saw them with four inclusions in AFL Media's round 7 AFLW Team of the Week.

Emily Bates, Sabrina Frederick-Traub, Jess Wuetschner and Ally Anderson were all named in the final Team of the Week for the 2018 home and away season.

Frederick-Traub's round 7 efforts were also recognised by a nomination for the AFLPA MVP of the Week. Vote for Sabs here.

Collingwood has been rewarded for their impressive game with six players featured following an outstanding victory over Adelaide which saw the Pies bump their opposition down the ladder and the Lions into a Grand Final spot.

The team is selected to mirror the All Australian format: five defenders, six midfielders (including a ruck), five forwards and five interchange players. Like the All Australian team, we have selected players in general categories, rather than in traditional positions. The 16-a-side set-up often means teams play with differing configurations, making set selections (for example, wings and flanks) difficult.

AFLW TEAM OF THE WEEK - ROUND FIVE

Defenders

Katherine Smith (Melbourne), Sarah Allan (Adelaide), Ashleigh Brazill (Collingwood), Dana Hooker (Fremantle), Jess Duffin (Collingwood)

Brazill was excellent in her second AFLW game, shutting down Adelaide's key forwards, while teammate Duffin proved the link out of defence with five rebound 50s and 18 disposals.

Allan was a NAB AFLW Rising Star nominee last week and was gallant in the second half when the Adelaide backline sorely missed injured star Chelsea Randall, while Smith provided plenty of run and hardness around the ball before moving forward to slot a goal.

Hooker was commanding in Fremantle's win against Carlton, finishing with 25 disposals, eight clearances and a goal.

Midfielders

Emma King (ruck, Collingwood), Emma Kearney (Western Bulldogs), Alicia Eva (Greater Western Sydney), Emily Bates (Brisbane), Karen Paxman (Melbourne), Hayley Miller (Fremantle)

Bates provided polish in Brisbane's midfield, collecting 21 possessions and winning three centre clearances.

King dominated in the ruck with 21 hit-outs, while Kearney was again imposing in collecting 20 disposals (18 contested) and winning eight clearances.

Miller's courage was on show when she ran back with the flight of the ball and into an incoming opponent, inspiring her teammates to a dominant second half.

Eva was best for the Giants with 18 disposals and six tackles, while Paxman gathered plenty of the ball before kicking a handy goal against the wind to keep Melbourne in the game against the Bulldogs.

Forwards

Jasmine Garner (Collingwood), Tayla Harris (Carlton), Sabrina Frederick-Traub (Brisbane), Jess Wuetschner (Brisbane), Christina Bernardi (Collingwood)

Brisbane duo Frederick-Traub and Wuestchner caused plenty of headaches for the Giants' defence, combining for seven goals.

Collingwood's Garner (three goals) and Bernardi (two) combined in the Pies' forward line, while Harris battle hard for Carlton, collecting 15 possessions and slotting two goals in the Blues' loss to Fremantle.

Interchange

Chelsea Randall (Adelaide), Ally Anderson (Brisbane), Jenna Bruton (Western Bulldogs), Jaimee Lambert (Collingwood), Ebony Marinoff (Adelaide)

Randall was best on the field in her two quarters on the ground, collecting 14 disposals and five marks before sitting out the rest of the match with a head knock.

Anderson was vital with 25 disposals (19 of them kicks), while Lambert, Marinoff and Bruton worked hard for their respective teams, providing toughness around the contest.
