The Brisbane Lions have this afternoon lodged paperwork to the AFL to elevate Matthew Hammelmann from the Club’s Rookie List to the Primary List.
Hammelmann will replace injured midfielder Mitch Robinson who was transferred from the Club’s Primary List to the Long Term Injury List.
Under the agreement, Robinson is ineligible to play for a minimum of eight weeks while on the list.
Robinson fractured his foot in the Lions’ Round 7 loss to Sydney. He will wear a moonboot as he recovers and will be sidelined for at least ten weeks.
NEAFL Report: Hammelman kicks five
It is the second time Hammelmann, a Hyundai Help for Kids Lions Academy product, has been elevated to the Club’s senior list.
The 21-year-old key position player made his debut against Richmond in Round 14 last season. He played nine games.
Hammelmann has had an impressive start to the season playing in the Lions’ NEAFL side and kicked 5 goals last weekend against Redlands.
