With David Noble now in the Lions’ Den, the Brisbane Lions are ready to ramp up the process of finding a new Coach.
Speaking on SEN’s Breakfast show this morning, Brisbane Lions CEO Greg Swann, said that Noble will be a real asset in the selection process and as a member of the Lions’ Coach Selection Panel.
“He’s (Noble) probably the most experienced Coach searcher in the comp, so we’d be mad not to use him,” Swann said.
“He’s really experienced. He’s done just about every job in footy, he’s been a list manager, a coach, a footy manager and he’s been in a good system at Adelaide - so we were rapt to get him.
“I think the key relationship is between the Footy Manager and the Coach, so until we really got David on board we couldn’t really press the complete go button.
“We’ve waited before we keep pushing.”
In terms of next steps in the Coach selection process, Swann said that the Coach Selection Panel will hold some interviews with potential candidates next week.
“The panel will conduct some interviews next week, and from there they’ll make a recommendation to the Board,” Swann said.
When asked about applying for a Priority Pick, Swann said that the Club attacked the application with a review of our on-field performance, a review of our first Round picks and a review of the history of the priority pick.
Swann said he isn’t sure if the Lions will receive the Priority Pick, but believes the AFL’s decision will be soon.
“I think the commission meets Monday and so hopefully we will know on the back of that meeting,” said Swann.
