Coverage
Fox Footy channel 504 will broadcast all 27 NAB Challenge matches, live and exclusive.
You can also follow the game on lions.com.au, on the Lions App or by following us on Twitter.
Rules
The NAB Challenge will also be used to trial a number of different rules and regulations.
The ‘SuperGoal’ – Teams will be awarded nine points for goals kicked beyond the 50m arc.
Longer breaks between quarters will be allowed, especially if the weather demands it.
Teams will be allowed eight players on the bench throughout the opening three weeks, with no cap on rotations. In the final week, only six players will be allowed on the bench with a cap of 90 rotations.
In the first three weeks, there will be no time-on/off in the first 15 minutes of each quarter, unless a goal is kicked or there is a major delay. The final five minutes of each quarter will revert to normal time-on/off rules. Normal rules will apply in the final week of NAB Challenge.
Rule interpretations will also change. An adjustment to the line of the mark will be trialled, except for when there is a mark or free kick awarded inside forward 50.
The protected area surrounding a player who has taken a mark or been awarded a free kick will increase from 5m to 10m throughout the NAB Challenge.
Stricter rulings will also be applied for dangerous tackles and deliberate out of bounds.
