There won’t be a spare seat in the house at the Grand Hyatt this Saturday night when the Brisbane Lions unveil their latest batch of Hall of Fame inductees.

After having only limited spots available for the past week or so, the event officially sold out over the weekend.

A touch over 600 people will witness the Club’s third Hall of Fame ceremony, which will be headlined by the naming of a fourth Legend.

Chief Executive Greg Swann said it was testament to the Lions’ rich history, and the Club’s loyal supporters, that the function proved so popular.

“There’s no secret it’s been a tough year on the field in 2016, but to see our Melbourne-based members and supporters get behind such an important occasion is really encouraging,” Swann told lions.com.au.

“That Fitzroy spirit is still very much alive in Victoria, and it’s important that our fans get an opportunity to celebrate some of the champions from the past.

“I also think the majority of our current crop of players, particularly the younger ones, will benefit from learning more about those individuals that really helped shape this Club.

“Hopefully it gives them a better perspective of those that came before them, and helps inspire them to go and achieve greatness themselves.”

The Lions will commemorate the occasion by wearing a Fitzroy-inspired Hall of Fame guernsey against Richmond this Saturday at the MCG.
