The Brisbane Lions' four-day training camp in Maroochydore came to an end on Friday.
Sunshine Coast product Jonathan Freeman said the camp gave players, coaches and staff the opportunity to concentrate on building the Club's football program, outline goals and enhance relationships.
"We've probably become closer as a group", Freeman said.
"We're all on the same path not just the players but the staff, the coaching staff -across all areas of the Club we're all on the same path of where we want to get to."
The 21-year-old said the support from the Sunshine Coast community had been overwhelming during the Club's stay.
"It was good to see a couple of the old Maroochydore shorts and Noosa shorts getting around on kids. It made me feel like I was back at home."
Freeman said he was confident heading into the 2016 season after having surgery to treat hernia's in the off season.
"Compared to the last two pre-seasons I've had this (year) is a big step up.
"The boys are really making some in roads into building on last season and making those improvements."
"I'm not too far away from full training, (I'm) ramping it up now and the body's starting to feel it.
"I'd like to cement my spot in the forward line. It's a big hole that has been left after Browny (Jonathan Brown) retired. I'd like to make that spot my own and work in tandem with some of the other key forwards at the Club."
