Lions defender Dan McStay spoke to the media today after a standout performance in defence against the Hawks on the weekend.
McStay said the tough draw and several six-day breaks has been a challenge for the team however, the boys are "holding together really well.”
“The exterior (view) is that we’re a bit of a rabble at the moment, but in the four walls, we’re actually holding together really well.” said McStay.
“This year it’s definitely a lot better and I guess we’re as tight as ever, whether we’re winning, losing or drawing.
“We’re really staying tight as a group and we’re just going to keep fighting through it and hopefully get the wins.”
The return of skipper, Tom Rockliff, could see more experience and leadership throughout the midfield, something that has proved difficult for the team in recent weeks.
“Our Captain is a very important player for us,” said McStay.
“The main thing he brings to our team is leadership which is something that we may have been lacking in the last few weeks, with such a young group.
“To have him back is a big in so we’re really looking forward to having him back.”
The Lions are set to take on Carlton on Saturday June 4 at Etihad Stadium.
