Craig Lambert is confident of better times ahead for the Lions upon his return to the Club as Strategy and Retention Manager, alongside wife Melissa who will work as Player Welfare Manager.
“It’s been a long time since I’ve been back at the Lions”, he told lions.com.au.
“We had a fantastic time in Sydney, but Brisbane was always home and it was only a matter of time before we got back.”
Lambert played 96 of his 219 senior games for Brisbane and was a Club Champion winner at both the Lions and Richmond.
The 46-year-old served as an assistant coach under Leigh Matthews during the Premiership years, when he was highly regarded for his work and development and welfare areas.
Lambert worked at Greater Western Sydney as their Player Welfare Manager, with Melissa also employed in the welfare department.
“Our daughter moved back two years ago and to come back to a club that we had so many great memories at, it’s exciting for me and my family.”
Lambert said despite some difficult times on field for the Lions in 2015, he is confident of a bright future.
“I’m a strong believer and I learnt this from Leigh Matthews that, ‘It’s never as bad as it seems and it’s never as good as it seems either’.
“All I know is we’ve got a very talented list, our list here at the Lions.
“I look at the likes of Harris Andrews, Daniel McStay and Lewy Taylor and guys like that and I think if we can get all of them on the park there will be a lot of excitement for our Club.
“We’ll be really trying to make sure this is an inclusive Club, that we don’t just draft a player, we draft a family."
