THE LIONS should regain a number of players following the bye, according to Physical Performance Coordinator Matt Hass.

Hass told the Bupa Report today that several Lions are on track for a Round 12 return against the Western Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium.

“We’ve got a fair cavalry arriving after the bye.

“Dan McStay returning from a finger injury, Ryan Harwood from concussion and Jack Redden from his back (all should return).

“Jack’s training really well, so he should make himself available”, Hass said.

“Jed Adcock and Darcy Gardiner will be a little bit more touch and go. Hopefully they get through a few training sessions and are ready after the bye or the week following.”

The Lions returned to Brisbane on Sunday night after a 30-point loss to GWS in Sydney without any major injury concerns.

Lions Defeated By Giants

“In general, the boys have pulled up really well.”

“It’s a nice thing after the last couple of weeks that we’ve had. No major injuries to speak of. It was a reasonably short travel back from Sydney and the boys had recovery yesterday morning.

There’s nothing worse than a few bumps and bruises.”

Pearce Hanley pulled up well following his first game of 2015. The 26-year old had hip surgery in February.

“He’s put in a mountain of work in his rehab into this. He got through; he started in defence and then moved through to the midfield. We were really impressed with his return.”

Lions Weekly Update

Defender Jordon Bourke copped a blow to the ribs and Vice-Captain Daniel Rich had his ankle re-strapped during the match but both returned to the field, playing out the game.

“Bourkey got a fair whack to the ribs, it probably looked a little bit worse than it was.

“It was just a very good winding, he took a few minutes on the bench to compose himself and got out there and finished well.”

“Dan went over on his ankle. It’s a little bit sore this morning.

“He’ll have a modified training session this week and luckily we’ve got the bye, he’ll be fine coming out of that and ready and roaring to take on the Bulldogs.”
