The Brisbane Lions will field a near full strength side for Saturday’s final JLT Community Series match against Adelaide at Hickinbotham Oval, Noarlunga.
The Lions may regain the services of swingman Daniel McStay for the first time this year, with the 21-year-old named in the starting 27-man-squad.
In his return from injury in the NEAFL last Saturday, McStay showed plenty up forward, taking a huge contested mark at the end of the first term. It appeared that McStay, who has put on plenty of size over the pre-season, hadn’t missed a beat.
Defender Ryan Harwood has also been named in the initial squad. He played 13 games in 2016 before a mid-season injury put a halt to his season.
The 25-year-old was transferred to the long-term injury list in June after scans confirmed he had ruptured his posterior cruciate ligament.
And 2016 draftee Cedric Cox may make his debut for the Club against the Crows.
After moving from Halls Creek in WA's Kimberley region to Camperdown in country Victoria, Cox's speed, skill and versatility caught the attention of the Brisbane Lions recruiters. He was drafted to the Club at pick 24.
Hugh McCluggage (ankle) has been left out of the side with injury and will miss the rest of the JLT Series.
The midfielder is set to miss 3-4 weeks after injuring his ankle in last week’s match against the Western Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium.
