Ryan Harwood

Good to get Harzy back. He missed out on senior selection, just needed to get another run under his belt after concussion. Played half back for us and gave us a lot of drive off hald back with his offensive run and ball use. He had 30 touches for the day, unfortunately got a really heavy cork early in the third quarter but his resilience to play out the game and continue to be a leader out there he was very good for the day and one of our best players.

Mitch GolbyHad a fair bit of the ball, Mitch. He probably didn’t have the influence on the day that he probably would have liked, still got plenty of it. Played on a wing for us the majority of the day, lacked a bit of run particularly in the first half but got better as the day went on.
Harris AndrewsMissed out on senior selection but played as a key back for us and was best on ground with his influence in the air. Took 14 marks, the majority of them were from the contest, will certainly put him back into senior selection.
Billy EvansProbably one of Billy’s best performances for the year. Played as an inside mid, kicked two. I thought his contested game was very good, he had eight clearances and was very strong inside. Offensively still working on some aspects of his game.
Josh McGuinnessPlayed wing/half back, got plenty of the ball and gave us a lot of overlap run in these areas. A bit of a mixed bag for Josh, certainly did OK. Still some defensive parts of his game where he’s just got to react a bit quicker to find opponents.
Dizzy GardinerCame back from injury and played as a key back for us. Like Harris Andrews was very good in the air, he had 10 marks, probably overcooked it by foot in the first half and gave it back to the opposition a bit so his ball use is something he needs to work on this week. Certainly his defensive and his aggressive acts as a key defender will certainly put him in line.
Sammy MayesSammy came back to us this week and we played him as an inside mid. He played three quarters before being an emergency for the senior game and travelling down there. Got a bit of the ball in those three quarters Sammy did. Was ok for us, still needs to work on his contest part of his game.
Josh ClaytonWe played Josh again as a midfielder and then put him on the wing in the last quarter, still needs to work very hard on his contest and defensive game. Had 18 possessions, didn’t influence the scoreboard at all. Not a good day for Josh.
Liam DawsonA mixed bag, played half forward then moved him to half back at half time. Probably looked better down half back where he worked a bit harder.  Certainly will  look to work harder offensively for us as a back and that was probably what let him down on the day, just his work rate and his ability to run.
Archie SmithOK in patches, probably got beaten on the day by his opponent. Archie will need to improve again his ruck stuff which is the number one priority for him at the moment and his ability to react quicker in defense when the opposition have the ball and his opponent.
Matt HammelmannMatty started as a key forward then moved him down back in the last quarter. Probably needed to take more of his opportunities when presented for himself particularly in his contested marking. A couple of technique things there he needs to work on. Juts so those opportunities can present themselves and turn them into goals for us. Probably need him to come at the ball more, so some continual improvement from Matty.
Brent StakerStakes back for his first hit out after a long layoff with a hamstring. A bit rusty with ball in hand at times, kicked three for us and probably could have kicked more if he had have taken a few more marks. He took only two for the day and probably dropped a few more. Just a rusty one but he’ll continue to improve.
